4th Annual Disc Golf Tournament

The 4th Annual Memorial Disc Golf Tournament - presented by United Way and Gold Country Disc Golf Assocation

This will be the 4th year of the Derek Sorensen Memorial Disc Golf Tournament.  It grew out of the love of a mother who lost her son, as a way to honor his memory.  Derek left behind many friends who shared his passion for disc golf and for life in general.

The Doubles Tournmant will be from 10am - 4pm. Bring a partner!

Registration for the tournament: $60 per team. Sign-ups will be held on  the day of the event at Western Gateway Park at the covered pavilion near Hole 17’s Tee from 8:30am to 9:30am.

For additional information or to reserve a spot contact Mike Woodman at 530-272-4400, or just show up the day of the event to sign-up.  We're hoping to see some more Co-ed (male/female) teams this year… All experience levels welcome and if you need some tips or want a lesson in advance contact Mike (number above).

Each player will receive  a Disc Golf Swag Bag!

100% of entry fees will be donated to benefit the United Way of Nevada County in Derek’s memory.  There will be a limited cash payout provided with generous donations from the Sorensen family and other community members.

The most important thing is to come out have fun and honor Derek’s memory.

About Derek Sorensen

"He was a best friend to many and a great friend to all," says his mother, Debbie Evans. "He was not judgmental; never a bully and he loved all living things. He loved all living things; dogs, cats, butterflies, birds, bees and even slugs. Derek was passionate about the Yuba River, loved the mountains, the ocean and most of all the desert and he enjoyed many sports, bowling, hiking, camping, biking, snowboarding and playing disc golf. He is missed by many."
